How to Maximize the Space in Your Garage

If there is one thing about life that always seems true, it is that no matter where you are, no matter what you are doing, there never seems to be enough storage space. One place where this certainly seems to be the case is in the garage. Full of random junk from years of storing random boxes, old holiday decorations, the kids’ old bikes and sports gear, and whatever else has been stuck back on the shelves for who knows how many years. Here are a few tips to help you maximize the storage space in your garage and transform into a space that you will love.

Store Above

The first tip that will help you to maximize the space in your garage is to store things up above. Your garage is usually a room with taller ceilings, giving you lots of vertical storage space, if you’re willing and able to use it. Make sure that you have high shelving that goes all the way up to the ceilings of your garage to maximize available shelving space for stored items. This will also help you keep less frequently used items up and out of the way of more heavily used items that need more direct access.

Use Storage Cabinets

Another great way to maximize the space in your garage is to install storage cabinets around the space. Storage cabinets are great because they are able to keep things out of the way and organized when not in use. Oftentimes the real problem when you think there isn’t enough storage space is that you just aren’t organized enough. Keeping everything in tool boxes helps keep your garage organized. Then putting these tools boxed into the storage cabinets keeps them out of the way and out of sight for a tidy appearance.

Declutter

The final way that you can maximize the space in your garage is decluttering the space. The garage is one of the spaces that tends to accumulate debris and debris that doesn’t have another place to be. Every now and again, you should declutter your garage and get rid of things you don’t use anymore. You don’t have to keep everything just because you own it, getting rid of unnecessary items will leave space for the things you truly need.

Your garage can be a frightening space. If there isn’t enough storage space in there, things can get messy and disorganized quickly. Follow these three tips to maximize the storage space in your garage and reclaim your space.
